    Opposition filibuster delays debate on telecommunications reforms

    Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, today condemned the Opposition for blocking debate on key legislation that would enhance competition and consumer protections in the telecommunications sector. “The Opposition wasted an hour filibustering during non-controversial legislation to prevent debate on the Telecommunications Legislation Amendment (Competition and Consumer Safeguards) Bill 2009,” Senator Conroy said.

    Australian music boosted through online resource

    The Australian Music Radio Airplay Project, or AMRAP, today launched stage two of AirIT, a free online Australian music catalogue created exclusively for community radio stations across the country. The stage two roll out means that all unsigned and independent Australian recording artists will now be eligible to apply to AirIT. Previously the majority of artists had been signed to a label.

    More Australians making the switch to digital TV

    The number of Australians who have converted to digital television grew steadily during 2009 according to the latest results of the Digital Tracker survey, the Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, announced today.
