Yes, I was surprised to hear it myself. Being a long time fan of the series I was really happy to hear that less than 48 hours ago Firaxis announced that Sid Meier’s Civilization V is due out in the fourth quarter of 2010. Very few details about the game have been announced but I will list what we know at this point.

- A new combat system
- Hexagonal titles rather than squares
- New game engine
- Full screen diplomacy
- Community features
- Modding features
- Multiplayer
- Siege units can attacks from further than one title away
- Eighteen civilisations available from the start
- Two leaders confirmed; George Washington and Otto von Bismarck with their respective civs; America and Germany
